The Best Safari Vacations in Africa

CRAFTING UNFORGETTABLE SAFARIS SINCE 1962

Abercrombie & Kent was born in Kenya more than six decades ago, when our founder Geoffrey Kent pioneered the world’s first luxury safari. Today we create extraordinary safari holidays across Africa.

THE BEST SAFARI DESTINATIONS IN AFRICA

Kenya

This is the land where the concept of safari – and A&K – began. Kenya is loved for the astonishing diversity of its people, cultures, landscapes and wildlife, all showcased at A&K Sanctuary lodges in key locations across the country: Olonana Lodge, in the Maasai Mara; Tambarare Camp, in the shadow of Mount Kenya; and, from 2025, Kitirua Plains Lodge, in elephant-rich Amboseli.

Tanzania

The Serengeti and the Great Migration, snow-capped Kilimanjaro, the astonishing Ngorongoro Crater, the palm-fringed sands of Zanzibar and the sparkling Swahili coast – Tanzania is blessed with some of the continent’s most iconic natural spectacles. Whether at Kichikani, Swala or Ngorongoro Crater Camp, A&K Sanctuary will make sure you’ve got the best seats in the house.

South Africa

For sheer variety and accessibility, South Africa is hard to beat. Kruger National Park is justly famous for its Big Five safaris; the country’s private game reserves provide some of the continent’s best game-spotting and most luxurious accommodation; while the cultural vibrancy, scenic beauty and gastronomic delights of Cape Town and the nearby Winelands are world-class and irresistible.

Botswana

Deserts, wetlands, savannah, the world’s largest inland delta and the continent’s highest density of elephants – these are just a few of the reasons to embrace Botswana. A&K Sanctuary’s four camps – three of them in different parts of the Okavango Delta, one in Chobe National Park – provide perfect points of entry into one of Africa’s most pristine and varied wilderness destinations.

Namibia

Towering sand dunes so substantial they have names, the shipwreck-dotted Skeleton Coast, desert-adapted lions and elephants – Namibia, home of the Himba, the Damara and the San Bushmen, is unlike anywhere else on earth. Set forth and discover its wonders from Okahirongo Elephant Lodge, an oasis of Himba-inspired luxury amid otherworldly wilderness.

Rwanda

Naturally, Rwanda is best known for its gorilla trekking in the sublime Volcanoes National Park – one of the few places, along with Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in neighboring Uganda, where visitors can come face to face with one of the world’s most endangered species. No less inspiring are the exceptionally beautiful Nyungwe Forest and the emerald-green Lake Kivu, encircled by mountains.

Uganda

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to more than half the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. It is home, too, to Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp, the top spot in Uganda for gorilla-trekking. Also not to be missed are the nearby Queen Elizabeth National Park and Kibale Forest – and further north, Murchison Falls, where the Nile plunges spectacularly towards Lake Albert.

Zambia

Victoria Falls – Mosi-Oa-Tunya – The Smoke That Thunders. The largest curtain of falling water on the face of the earth. It is understandable that Zambia is so strongly identified with this miracle of nature; but there is more, much more. Your adventure begins just upstream from the Falls at Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma.
