Luxury Vacations to the Netherlands
A nation is inevitably shaped by its cities, and this is certainly the case with the Netherlands.
Amsterdam, all canals, cycle paths and world-class museums (not least the paintings of the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh); Rotterdam, a working but rapidly changing port, crammed with hipster districts and cool eateries; The Hague, that legal colossus, with bars aplenty on the Grote Markt. But don’t be tricked into believing that the Dutch exist solely for late nights and urban sprawl. The country’s flatness and superb rail system make for easy exploration – to smaller dots on the map; Groningen, Arnhem, Utrecht; to the protected sand dunes of De Hoge Veluwe National Park and the marshlands of Weerribben-Wieden National Park. Then there is the coast, too – 280 miles of it, encompassing the enclosed bay of Lake Ijssel, and lovely seafront towns like Bergen and Egmond.
