When we opened our first camp in Kenya's Maasai Mara in 1999, we pledged to make a positive impact on the areas in which we operate and to nurture enduring collaborative relationships with the communities that live in those places. As we’ve grown, we’ve continued to honour and extend that commitment.
Get to Know the A&K Sanctuary Family
Jackson Keiwua, General Manager
Born and raised in Narok County, Kenya, Jackson came to Sanctuary 16 years ago as a sous-chef. It soon became clear that his talents extended far beyond the kitchen, and when Tambarare Camp opened in 2022, he was appointed Camp Manager and subsequently General Manager. His love of the place deepens with every passing season; he speaks of it as his second home.
Beatrice Arabang, General Manager
This year, Beatrice has come full circle. Having joined A&K Sanctuary in 2006 as a spa therapist at Chobe Chilwero Lodge, our property on the edge of Chobe National Park, she eventually found herself overseeing the management of all A&K Sanctuary spas in Botswana. She was subsequently appointed Acting General Manager at Baines’ Lodge – and in 2024 returned to Chobe Chilwero Lodge as General Manager.

General Manager
A member of the A&K Sanctuary family for more than a decade, Arusha-born Emmanuel joined us first at Swala Camp before being appointed General Manager of our mobile Kichakani Camp. The reason why he loves it is the reason why his guests love it too: “We are always in the perfect location to experience the Great Migration or the calving season.”
Joseph Mshana, General Manager
Practically a local boy (having been born and raised in the Kilimanjaro region), as well as part of the Sanctuary furniture (having joined us in 2008), Joseph became General Manager at Ngorongoro Crater Camp in 2022. He loves the landscapes and wildlife of Tanzania. Like his favourite animal, the giraffe, he is a distinctive, wise and heartwarming presence around camp.
