Luxury Vacations in Malaysia
Eating could be a national sport in Malaysia. It’s a country with a fistful of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants, alongside countless hawkers and roadside stalls. Anthony Bourdain almost started a turf war when he claimed “Sarawak” laksa in Borneo “the best breakfast ever”. Major cities like Kuala Lumpur have some of the tallest buildings in the world, while in George Town on the island of Penang, colorful traditional shophouses filled with hipster cafés brew the town’s signature butter-soaked white coffee.
Plumes of satay smoke and wok-fried-everything give this country a hazy filter but you can escape to the rainforest for forest bathing with orangutans. Or perhaps choose from one of the thousands of beaches or islands. Langkawi alone has more than 100, and the coral-fringed Perhentians are tropical-island clichés, while on Malaysia’s east coast, Tioman Island is a nature reserve dotted with fuss-free shacks.
