Luxury Vacations in Croatia
Croatia is the freewheeling, sun-in-its-hair hit of the Mediterranean. A seafaring nation, most of it is coastal, and best explored by boat.
Resembling shoals of fish amid the Adriatic blue, the dozens of islands of the Dalmatian Coast – Vis, Brac, Hvar and Dugi Otek – each offers something different, from inland lakes and white sands to vineyards and beach clubs. On the mainland coast, Dubrovnik is the medieval highlight, its harbor walls gathered round stone-carved squares and palaces; but there are other places to alight. The coastal towns of Zadar and Split, with their Roman ruins, and pretty Rovinj, where narrow lanes filled with restaurants lead to the crow’s nest tower of St Euphemia. Inland are the hilltop towns and truffled woodlands of Istria, for backcountry walks and long lunches in the local taverns.
