Luxury Vacations in Spain
Spain is a sprawling patchwork of a country, seductive and mesmerizing, and there are good reasons to venture to every corner. You may go to Bilbao to see the Frank Gehry’s Guggenheim, only to find yourself distracted by the tapas and pintxos, and drawn along the coast to San Sebastián, one of the world’s great food cities. In orange blossom-scented Seville, a city that wears its history on its sleeve – Roman, Moorish, Christian – the reason might be to immerse yourself in the flamboyant architecture; in Barcelona, to watch the street life of the Gothic Quarter and savor Michelin-starred cuisine; in Granada, to gaze at the wondrous Alhambra palace; and in the capital, Madrid, to admire some of the world’s greatest artworks.
This is a country where the landscape rears up and demands attention, from the rugged peaks of the Sierra Nevada and the Pyrenees to the ravines of Andalucia, from the kaleidoscopic surrealism of Lanzarote to the mountains and coves of Mallorca, largest of the blissed-out Balearic Islands. And there always seems to be a cultural festival, filling the streets with food and music and color. In Spain, life is usually something that takes place outdoors.
