Luxury Vacations in Switzerland
Take the briefest glance at the Swiss landscape and you might assume there is nothing to it but mountains.
There are plenty of them, certainly, all of them dramatic Alpine giants: the Matterhorn and its rearing cobra-strike summit; the epic Dufourspitze, the country’s tallest; the close-knit trio of the Eiger, the Mönch and the Jungfrau, united by the railway – the Jungfraubahn, Europe’s highest – whose tunnels and tracks run right through their hearts. But look more closely, and you will notice more than rock, snow and altitude. There are significant cities – Zurich, Basel, Bern, Geneva, Lausanne – which sing sweetly of culture and cuisine, museums and music, art and architecture. And there are the lakes – Constance, Lucerne, Maggiore, Neuchatel – which open out as gleaming mirrors, capturing the wonder of their surroundings. True, in many cases, their main reflections are mountain peaks. But with such beauty on display, you can only revel in the obvious.
