Clothing on safari should be comfortable and colours should blend in with nature as much as possible. Lightweight, breathable items in neutral colours such as khaki, beige, and green are recommended for game drives, along with comfortable closed-toe shoes and a wide-brimmed hat. Sunglasses and sunscreen are essential for UV protection, while insect repellent and a first-aid kit should also be packed. If you’re travelling during the rainy season, waterproof clothing and sturdy boots are a must. Back at camp, comfort is key, so feel free to dress as you wish; evening dress in the lodges and camps is ‘smart casual,’ there is no formal wear required.

We set up your very own private pitch in the Sahara Desert close to the dunes of Merzouga. Each camp includes between two and 12 tents, exclusively for you and your guests.

LOCATION

Berber-style canvas tents are lined with large rugs to keep out the evening chill. Rooms are set in private caidal tents and include double or twin beds with high-quality linens. Bathroom facilities consist of a small wash basin with cold running water and towels, plus a separate toilet and shower tent. Each tent has outdoor seating. 

ACCOMODATION

Guests are greeted with fresh mint tea on arrival. Our skilled team of cooks and staff produce a traditional Moroccan dinner, served around the campfire or in the communal mess tent, where white table cloths are loaded with a variety of exotic fruit. 

DINING

A fleet of 4x4 jeeps delivers all the necessary equipment to the dunes. Guests are invited to jump in the convoy, or complete the last leg of the journey by camel ride.

Guests arrive by camel to the A&K Private Desert Camp in Morocco, which appears like a mirage in the Sahara and vanishes just as quickly. But not before you can sink into a hand-crafted Sirocco-style chair on the veranda of your traditional caidal tent, as dinner is served fireside under the stars by your very own chef. Decorated with local design cues such as Moroccan kilim rugs, each solar-powered tent has electricity, carpets, solid beds and running water. It’s the perfect space to come home to and be pampered by your private staff after a day exploring the dunes on camelback.
