Luxury Safaris in Zimbabwe
Stepping onto African soil can feel like a homecoming. Nowhere is that connection stronger than in sacred “bare stone” marvel Matobo Hills. Here, the continent’s highest concentration of rock-art sites can be found between Zimbabwe's caves and granite overhangs, in a landscape of precariously piled balancing rocks held remarkably stable for millions of years.
Rhino depicted in paintings can still be seen in the region, but for a chance of spotting predators, Hwange National Park is first choice. From Kalahari sandveld to mopane woodland, big cats and wild dogs roam through a remarkable range of scenic habitats. Even more photogenic is walking safari favorite Mana Pools, where elephants teeter on two legs to nibble pods from winter thorn trees along the Zambezi River. Calm enough to canoe, the water is far more furious further south at border-straddling world wonder Victoria Falls, where the best overall views of the powerful cataracts can be enjoyed.
