Nepal: Ultimate Himalaya Escape

No visit is complete without a boat trip on Phewa Taal, the second largest lake in Nepal. Visit Barahi Temple – the island temple situated on the lake’s tiny island and surrounded by magnificent views. 

The drive here – through dramatic ravines and deep gorges – is almost as captivating as the village’s rugged landscapes, icy streams and oak forests. Nearby, Marpha’s apple orchards and traditional stone houses are nestled at the southern edge of Nepal’s Mustang region, where you will encounter rural Nepalese life. Stroll through the streets and purchase hand-made craft souvenirs, before heading to a truly authentic chef’s table: lunch is hosted and served by Mrs Kamala, a renowned Thakali chef and civic leader, in her home.  

Situated amid hills and valleys and surrounded by greenery, Dhulikhel is one of the ancient Newari towns that have preserved the Newari tradition and culture. The one-hour drive from Kathmandu to Dhulikhel offers the finest views of the northeastern Himalaya along with beautiful pagoda-style temples. It is famous for its vantage location in viewing the Himalayan ranges from Cho Oyu in the east to Himalchuli in the west.
