Stanley’s Camp
Though named after Henry Stanley – he of “Dr Livingstone, I presume?” fame – and, in certain aspects of its gracious, nostalgic design, evocative of an earlier age of travel, Stanley’s Camp is a picture of understated yet frankly undeniable luxury of a kind that footsore 19th-century explorers could scarcely have imagined. And beyond its elegant lounge and outdoor dining area, beyond the shade cast by ebony and kigelia trees, nothing but the broad horizons and seemingly unlimited natural splendour of the Okavango Delta, one of Africa’s grandest wildernesses, teeming with wildlife.
Setting
Enhance your stay with these extraordinary experiences
Stanley’s Camp is set within a 26,000-acre private concession adjacent to the vast and game-rich Moremi Game Reserve, which itself accounts for some 40 percent of the protected area of the Okavango Delta. Eyes peeled for elephant, hippo, buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard, cheetah, impala, zebra, wild dog, hyena… And that’s before we even get started with the birds.

Walking Safaris
Nothing quickens the senses quite like a stroll in the African wilderness. And because Baines’ Lodge is located within a private concession, guided walks are not merely possible but strongly recommended (weather-permitting, as ever). Get your boots on.
