Chipego Bike Shop
A&K Sanctuary has a thriving partnership with Working Bikes, a charity that aims to create small-business opportunities in developing countries through bicycles. Chipego Bike Shop in Nakatindi was our first project to be entirely female-led; 10 years on, the team has repaired, resold or rented some 9,000 bikes, bringing huge benefits to the community in the process. Visitors are more than welcome.
Sishemo Bead Studio
Sishemo Bead Studio is an initiative staffed by local women trained in traditional African techniques of glass beadmaking. They create beautiful, handmade jewellery from recycled glass – some of which is supplied by Sussi & Chuma. The studio’s seven gifted artisans collectively support more than 40 family members.
